I believe that the majority of members that have done this are long gone, but I also suspect that some people after responding to that 2004 thread about postal procedures, or the 2006 thread about Gilligan’s Island, decide to stick around.
Well if you did join here for the purpose of responding to an old thread you discovered through your google search are still here are you willing to admit to it?
It’s a good question, though. I joined to start my own thread about a staff report. Not sure why the staff report is dated 2008 when I was starting a thread about it in 2003.
Not exactly, but I did join in order to participate in several threads, some of which were a month or two old.
And I will do this quite often elsewhere, and it will be a driveby. Why? Because, if I found the thread by Google, others will, too, and hence I want to be helpful and add more information if I have it. It sucks when the only thread you can find is someone else asking about the same problem you are having.
I’m currently trying to do a search to see my first post, but it’s taking a long time to run. I’m going to ahead and post this, and if it doesn’t give me results in 5 minutes, oh well.
EDIT: My first post was about the plan to go to free-to-post, of course. Since that was why I was delaying joining in the first place. And it looks like I never got around posting in those older threads after all.
I joined to start a thread about my dog Friday (Golden Retriever), who had just passed away, and about adopting Chance (Weimaraner), to start the healing.
I’m not quite as much of an old timer as you are, but I don’t know that a year-old thread would qualify as a zombie. In any case, I joined to post in a silly MPSIMS thread, and I never looked back.
I didn’t sign up to resurrect a zombie, but to flog a local meme.
I had spent nearly all of several days and nights obsessively reading the SDMB archives; my first post was for the purpose of remarking that if my friends started asking me if I ever slept, I could tell them, “Once. In 1960. For 20 minutes.”
No. But I did sign up to correct some information and comment on some threads about zombies. I have friends associated with Monroeville Mall who take the subject VERY seriously.
There should be a poll option for “I don’t remember,” because I sure don’t. And I’m not inclined to try to track down my first post, because reading stuff I wrote on here years ago tends to make me wince.
