Yesterday’s Stamps-Ti-cats game had one of the weirdest endings I’ve seen.
Tie game (33-33), last minute, third down Stamps around their own 20 yard line. They punt, hoping to prolong the game into overtime, thereby picking up at least one point in the standings, maybe two.
Ti-cats break through, and one big bruiser blocks the punt, which goes back towards the Calgary end-zone.
Mad scramble for the bouncing ball. It looks like a real weird rugby game, with all of them chasing the ball. One of the Stamps kicks the ball into their own end-zone, whether intentionally or not I couldn’t tell.
Another Stamp kicks the ball through the end-zone, out of bounds.
It’s ruled a safety, since one of the Stamps sent it into the end-zone. Stamps lose, 32-35 to Hamilton. The main significance of this result is that it keeps the Riders’ play-off hopes alive!
