Digital Picture Frames

My office is moving and we are in the process of interior design. Our receptionist wants to have 4 digital screens behind her desk showing pictures related to our business. Her requirements are that the frames be synchronized so only one frame changes at a time. She’d also prefer to upload pictures herself to a website which the frames would display instead of taking the frame off of the wall to change a USB memory card in each frame.

Do you know of any frames that meet these requirements? I have found frames that can connect to flickr for pictures, but I haven’t found a way to automatically synchronize the frames so only one changes at a time.

Thanks!

You could just run some LCD monitors from a PC, I don’t know the particulars, but I’ve seen setups like that, and they would be endlessly flexible in what they could do with pictures and graphics. Sorry I don’t have info on how to actually set it up, but that’s the option I would explore if I were in your situation.

That is the only way I can think of too but it isn’t going to be cheap. Running 4 LCD screens from a single computer can be done but it isn’t easy. You also need a programmer to build some software to cycle the pictures the way you want. There may be some software out there already but I have never heard of it. The cost of that approach is $$$$$.

Shagnasty,
Systems Analyst but not that kind.

Nahh,
it’s free with OS X.
Just get a used G4 (<$100 on ebay) and add a cheap 2-port video card. The Screensaver app in OS X does all the rest.

AHHHHH!, A Mac person. I don’t know anything about that stuff these days but if that actually works, it probably is a good solution. Systems analysts like me have to constantly remind ourselves to keep things simple as long as it gets the job done although the OP specified four screens instead of two.

Yes - the machine comes with a 2-port video card.
Adding another one gives 4.
