Digital Vidoe Cameras/Video Conference..

Would i be able to use a Sony digital video camera for a video conference like i use a webcam?

i was pretty sure i would be able to but i somehow remember someone telling me it wouldnt work.

yes, the Sony digital video camera can be used for video conferencing.

you will need a video chat software such as CUSeeme or Iphone or any such chat software capable of relaying video.

i have even video conferenced using a normal ( non-digital ) video camera connected to a tv-tuner.

Go to download.com and search for video chat.

if you need more details feel free to post.

Well, I wouldn’t try it unless you have some sort of broadband access. The quality of video off a digital camcorder would require something more than 56K to deliver.

In either case, you’d probably need to go out and buy a couple of wires to hook up audio/visuals to your computer, and you’d need some less-than-mainstream software to deal with it. Video conferencing isn’t what a camcorder is designed to do, y’know. It’d probably be easiest just to spend $50 on a cheap webcam.

I have cable, and i have a webcam (Logitech Quickcam Expres).

I was just curios is all.
