Dingoes Ate My Baby

Dear Sir,

You noted in your column “In Australia do dingoes really eat babies” 22 September 2000 that the final couse of death for Azarea Chaberlain was not known. By way of update, on 12 June 2012 the Coroners Court of the Northern Territery of Australia ruled that a dingo WAS responsible for the death of the child.

thank you for all your interesting information.

First, welcome to the Straight Dope Message Boards, davidmarzec, we’re glad you found us.

For future ref, when you start a thread, it’s helpful to other readers to provide a link to the column in question. There are lots (lots!) of old columns, so it saves searching time and helps keep us on the same page. No biggie, you’ll know for next time. And here’s the link for everyone else:

Finally, thanks for the update info. I’ll be sure that Cecil sees this, and perhaps he’ll do an update (or at least an updated post-script) to the column.

USA TODAY: A dingo almost ate this toddler, until the boy’s parents fought off the pack.

That’s why I came to this thread.

Looks like it is more frequent than Cecil originally indicated.

Baby fed dingo sounds like it would be a really expensive menu item.

I swear to ghod I keep reading the thread title as “Diogenes Ate My Baby”.
