Dinner at Bob Evans

The Bob Evans pot roast sandwich is my favorite food of all time.

They’re EVERYWHERE in Ohio, basically.

Sorry, I meant where in Ohio is their corporate office? Trying to figure out if Fort Wayne is close (enough) to it, per devilsknew’s suggestion.

They started in Ohio, you know, where Grant and Sherman came from.

True North.

From their web site:

The company is headquartered at:
Bob Evans Farms Inc.
3776 South High Street
Columbus, Ohio 43207
800-272-7675

Then they never had any true south to begin with. How dare they pretend!

The Original Bob Evans Farm Address:
791 Farmview Drive
Bidwell, OH 45614
(800) 994-FARM
It’s Bob’s farm where the first Bob Enans Restaurant opened…The Homestead. Never been there but they still have a Restaurant there and the farm is a company museum and historical center. They have various festivals and special events throughout the year, as well If you go to http://www.bobevans.com/ and click on The Bob Evans Farm link you can find out more about it.

Unfortunately it’s quite a ways to the Bob Evans Homestead in Fort Wayne, it’s near a little town called Rio Grande, OH not too far from ther West Virginia border… so it’s more Southern than one would think.

But yes, you’re right sarafeena sausage gravy is a milk gravy, but the sausage gravy at BE is much different than their white “Sawmill Gravy”, for lack of a better term.

Thanks for the info (and Sigmagirl, too…guess I could have looked that up myself!) We are actually planning a family vacation out that way in the next couple of years. Maybe we will stop by there for some home cookin’! (I just happened to be in Fort Wayne, which is the closest I’ve been to Ohio in quite a long time.)

Interesting…I will remember that the next time I go.

I just looked at the bios of some of the CEO’s of BE and I think I can see why the quality has gone down so much, their president came from YUM! foods… the fast food conglomerate. Figures…

Ever been to Metea County Park?

No, I was only in Fort Wayne for an event, just for one night. Is it something I should see if I ever make my way back there?

WV ain’t really southern. The whole reason it exists is that it didn’t want to be part of Dixie.

I misunderstood, I thought you lived there. My best friend is the park director and in October they have a fun little Renaissance Faire.

Great destination close to Bob Evans Homestead or on the way:

Hocking Hills

It’s a state park as well.

Or maybe you want to go to the Serpent Mound? They are both on the way… from Fort Wayne and the West.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’m not from Fort Wayne, by the way…I’m from Chicago, but we will take a southerly route through Cincinnati (it’s a find-our-roots tour, as we both have family that came out to the midwest via Penn/WVa), so this looks like a great place for us to check out! Thanks!

Did he flirt?
