This will be lame, but it needs to be Pitted. Apparently, Christian Dior has come out with a new perfume called Addict (obligatory link). The line also includes lipstick and og only knows what other cosmetics.
That’s right! Let’s glorify something which causes misery, pain, and general rottenness of life! Let’s make it glamorous to be strung out and in desparate need of a fix! Why not? After all, the super-skinny look models have been sporting for a while has been called “heroin chic” so let’s drop the pretense all together and go for it!
I’ve never been into fashion, nor have I been wealthy, but right now I wish I were so I could boycott this degradation. I’ve also never been a drug addict or alcoholic, but I have spent time in the hospital being treated for depression along with alcoholics and drug addicts. I also have a friend who’s active in 12 Step programs. Forget other topics we’ve done on this board. To me, glamorizing addiction is an abomination. The people who came up with and encouraged this idea are so far beneath contempt it’s unspeakable. If they could spend one week experiencing the reality of being addicted to drugs, they might change their tune. Then again, I don’t think I have that much faith in humanity.
