disappointed in Obama? Know Someone Better ???

I can’t really answer the poll as asked, because 1. I DO know of politicians who would be “better” from the perspective of more representative of my particular views (as a progressive, leftist Independent)

BUT

2. I do NOT currently know of anyone else fitting that description who has a snowball’s chance in hell of getting ELECTED (i.e. preventing the Republicans from re-taking the nation and continuing to drive it the rest of the way into the ground.)

Exactly my problem. Do I think there are people who’d have done a better job (i.e., one that’s more in line with how I personally want the country to be run)? Yes. Do I think they have any chance whatsoever of being elected? Hell no. Do I think the other viable alternative (McCain/Palin) would have done a better job than what we ended up with (Obama/Biden)? *Fuck *no.

I think he is a principled man who often sees past the BS of his party and is not afraid to challenge them. What I did mind was the fact the the same folks behind the Bush campaign/administration were running HIS, and his running mate (a radical, far-right religious moron, imho).

I ***had ***a lot of respect for McCain. If it would have been him beating Gore in 2000, I wouldn’t have been so incredibly (and, unfortunately, presciently) frightened. Then he apparently decided in 2008 that he’d had enough of losing and was going to do whatever it took to get elected. Contrast this with someone like Ron Paul, whose positions I often loathe, but whom I respect as a politician because of his general idealogical consistency.
