What are some of your favorite covers of songs others have made famous?
One of my favorites is Jack Webb doing his unique rendition of “Try A Little Tenderness”.

The entire catalog of covers from Hayseed Dixie is fun.
Sounds of Silence by Disturbed. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiD5fTetMvWAhUEeSYKHYUzDWMQyCkIKzAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Du9Dg-g7t2l4&usg=AFQjCNG8g_WYKvUyjTuIKOl35rv5Bu2VFA
Here are a couple of covers that I’ve recently discovered.
Smalltown Boy by Emmon. This is a cover of the popular 1984 song by Bronski Beat. It remains faithful to the original while using more modern instrumentation. It results in a more haunting sound that goes well with the story the lyrics tell.
Your Loving Arms by Karen Overton. This is a major reinterpretation of the 1995 minor pop hit by Billie Ray Martin. It changes the original into a sultry downtempo dance tune.
Hurt - Johnny Cash
Arlo does Elvis:
Don McClean does "Since I don't have you".Sorry, one more:
All That She Wants by Ella on the Run.
This is a cover of a 1993 song by cult-favorites Ace of Base. The original was a poppy up-tempo tune. Ella on the Run turns it into a smooth down-tempo number.
I like it when a cover is really more like someone rethinking the whole song.
The Cure turn Purple Haze into a new song.
Possibly the greatest cover of an already great song is Jimi Hendrix’s version of All Along the Watchtower.
Agreed.
I’m a big fan of Japancakes’ cover of the entire My Bloody Valentine album Loveless.
“The Monster Mash” by the Bonzo Dog Band
I love the Allman Bros version of, “Dreams”, but I also love the version by Molly Hatchet. They’re fairly different, even though they both heavily feature great guitar work. LOVE Duane’s solo, but Molly Hatchet brought their own sound to the song.
she almost sounds like the chick that created steven and sings the theme song …
also its hard as hell to find these days but mike ness/social distortion ( I don’t know if it was just him by him self or with social d ) covers "this diamond ring " which unlike their listing by me in the other thread is great …
I’m not a big Arlo fan, but I do think his City of New Orleans cover was great.
But what immediately came to mind when I saw the title of this thread was the Byrds. Mr. Tambourine Man and Turn! Turn! Turn!
I don’t know how to link, but Warren Haynes acoustic Into The Mystic.
And, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes - Nothing Compares to You.
I’m sure I’ll be back with a list later.
Stones doing Chuck Berry’s Carol on Ya Ya’s album.
