Are the Discworld novels in the U.S. identical in content to the U.K versions? Or are they edited for American audiences like the Harry Potter books?
As far as I know, they haven’t been changed all that much, if at all. Spelling was changed to the US version, but Pratchett was not marketed as a best seller in the US, and was primarily sold to SF/fantasy fans, who are not going to be put off by references to GB culture.
I do know that Pratchett uses dollars for money in the books. Does he use pounds in GB?
I think he uses dollars in the UK books too, but I am not sure.
Well, they’re Ankh Morpok Dollars, so that would not be changed (a novel set in Singapore would have Singapore dollars as a currency no matter what edition).
I own a mixture of British and American pTerry novels as I tend to buy the one that I can get my hands on first. The US versions are not changed, apart from the spelling. Typically “British” words are not changed.
I also have a mix of both - the main difference is the cover art. The beautiful illustration (I think by Kirby?) on the British ones and very boring designs on the USA ones.
I believe Terry Pratchett once mentioned some minor word changes for American audiences (“curb” becomes “sidewalk”, “colour” becomes “color”, etc.), but no major edits(*). I don’t notice the change myself; I roll over British English without batting an eye.
(* = Well, except for the several hundred extra words added to the American release of Good Omens, and extra words added to the paperback version of Reaper Man to get the typography trick 
in that book to work.)
Several hundred extra words? Why were they absent from the UK version? Damn, I can’t remember which one I own (probably the UK version). Can I find these words somewhere online?

I believe rjung is referring to the extra-large “YES” that is found towards the end of the book. In my edition, it is set up in such a way that it is the first thing you see after you turn the page.

I just got Reaper Man from audible.com. What was once one of the better books in the series is suddenly elbowing its way into my ‘Favorite’ slot. It’s one of his first books when he gets really lyrical, and bigods does he pull it off well! He sneaks in so much in so few words that I have to run to keep up.
