I am writing a short story about a drug user going to discos in Pittsburgh in 1977. Question: Would clubs be divided by black/white, or would there be a mix of people at your typical decent disco?
Any other details you have to offer about the club scene then would be welcome.
Look up Terry Kicks. I don’t know much about the Pittsburgh “disco scene in the 70s”, (Pittsburgh’s worst problems were during the 80s when the steel mills closed), but I don’t imagine they would have been all that segregated. Of course, I could be wrong.
I don’t know about Pittsburgh specifically, but my understanding is that disco was among the least-segregated music cultures ever.
Thanks, good info thus far!
