Discontinued cereal/foods in general

I really miss Team Flakes (pictured here). They were made with rice, corn, oats and wheat, the combination of which made them practically impervious to milk saturation, so they stayed super crisp all the way through to the last bite in the bowl. Damn, I miss that cereal.

I don’t remember who made it, but for awhile you could get a frozen chocolate mousse in a tub. You thawed it out and spooned it up into dessert dishes. It was delicious thawed, but it was even better kind of semi-frozen. It was utterly addicting, and luckily, they don’t make it anymore. ISTR buying it in the late 70’s, early 80’s maybe.

This reminded me of an old favorite of mine from the mid 60’s. “Whip 'n Chill”. It was made by the “Jell-o” people. It was a powder you mixed with either milk or water and then let sit in the fridge for a half hour or so. It produced a delicious, no-cooking, creamy desert.

So there are lots of great old products we all loved that fell by the wayside. I guess there just weren’t enough people buying our favorites to make them profitable for their manufacturers.

This talk of Freshen Up reminds me of Zotz candy – hard fruit-flavored candy with an ultra-tart and fizzy powder center. There was quite a fad for those when I was a kid.

I remember both of these, and I think I saw GYHST not too long ago.

I miss Vanilly Crunch (vanilla flavored Cap’n Crunch).
They also had a version with strawberry flavored and peanut butter variant.

Also, Ring Dings came in a version that had white chocolate frosting. Damn those were good.

You mean Cap’n Cruch Peanut Butter Crunch? They still make it. Hated it as a kid, but I haven’t had it since then.

I miss Bucwheats. My best friend once said “There are two kinds of people in the world: healthy cereal eaters and junkfood cereral eaters.” If I could find a box of Bucwheats, I would bridge the gap.

And Creamy Burgers. Neapolatin ice cream squished between two giant cinnamony oatmeal cookies- enrobed with chocolate. Enrobed.
