Great suggestion! We should have done this years ago. Also makes the “handoff draft for editing on another device” workflow a lot more obvious, as well. (It was always there, just kind of magically happening in the background, so you had to know about it.)
Maybe they can actually put that on the question for a few months. Then when they take it off, it’ll seem less accusing.
Is there any option for NOT automatically saving my draft? I spent twenty years very comfortable not having it, and I would select it in my user preferences, were it to be offered.
“Abandon” is a bit much! LOL
- Forsake; leave behind.
- Give up with the intent of never claiming again.
- Leave in the lurch.
Not just that, but I start plenty of posts and abandon them knowing full while I’ll revisit the topic later and want to give my post another shot. In the past, that just meant leaving the thread. While I’m already used to it, I now have to make sure to cancel the post. Otherwise it can be a bit jarring to click on the same thread and find a post I started typing two days earlier.
Can we get a recycle bin instead? I’d like to think that mine unused words might be shredded into their constituent letters and then remanufactured into shiny new words for others to use.
They would be of lower quality and have to be used for making low quality posts.
Good thing there’s no shortage of those around here.

Yep. I recognize the “m” from a previous post.
