Why don’t I understand this test? I tried it but found it increasingly confusing.
uh…so I got Clinton, Huck and McCain all on the same level with Obama right underneath. Everybody was exactly in the middle.
That is the almost exact opposite of my real preferences (assuming the first three are in best-worst order).
They put a picture of one of the candidates at the top of the screen. You must click “good” every time you see that person’s picture. You must click “bad” every time you see anyone else’s picture, whether you like them or not (that was my mistake at first). Meanwhile, you also have to click “bad” or “good” when they flash bad & good words. The test also registers how long you take to hit “bad” or “good.”
The test doesn’t get increasingly complicated; ti’s the same throughout.
I’d guess it’s because they’re not asking you to think. It’s purely a test of timing while confronting you with images and one-word value statements. They’re trying to assess your gut by testing your reflexes and looking for hesitation and confusion on your part. I guess if you repeatedly have trouble clicking on Obama = good, to pull a random example, it reveals something inside you has trouble with that association.
Either that or your index fingers are racist.

Clinton…McCain…Huckabee/Obama tied
Pretty much as I expected.
You’re probably joking but the test can’t really tell you anything meaningful about racism, because there’s only one black face and three white faces and all of them are well-known to us and influenced by other factors. I think if you wanted to test for racism you’d have to have a much larger variety of pictures of unfamiliar people.
Obama…Clinton …Huckabee…McCain
Which is about right. I really like Obama and dislike Clinton, but I think she’d be OK (except I think she’d lose to McCain).
I detest both Huckabee and McCain, although I’d rather have the hawk than the theocrat as prez.
I suspect Huck’s friendly face made him rank over McCain in a reflex test.
…McCain…Obama…Huckabee…Clinton…
Yeah, the idea that one’s finger would hesitate over “obama = good” seemed like an opportunity for a joke. I don’t seriously think it has sociological implications.

------->Obama----->Clinton---------------------------------------------------->McCain------------------------>Huck
Obama … Clinton … Huckabee … McCain
What I expected for the democrats, but I was a little surprised that Huckabee came out above McCain (though I despise them both).
…McCain Clinton…Huckabee Obama…
which just seems weird to me. There is no way I like Huckabee better then Obama. I would have expected something like
… Obama Clinton…McCain…Huckabee…
But maybe it doens’t work on Canadians
I am Obama/Clinton/McCain ------------------ /Huckabee.
Didn’t realize I liked McCain so much.
I knew I loved Obama though.
Clinton-Huckabee ------------ Obama -------------- McCain
What? I vote Democrat but I like McCain. I also think Huckabee is a nice guy but a horrible candidate. I also thought I liked Obama more than Clinton. She was the only women though, so I think I picked a lot faster for her. I also noticed myself going faster for Huckabee because he looks so damn weird.
Then again, this does test our liking or disliking of the candidates as people, not our thoughts of the candidates as candidates I’m guessing.
I blame the beer I had 10 minutes ago…
Your beer goggles were so bad you ended up in bed with Hillary Clinton?
Well, Bill joined us so it wasn’t too bad in the end.
Ok, I got half-way through and didn’t understand what was going on. Every single time I’d push “I” on a Huckabee picture, it would give me an X until I pushed an “E”. The exact oppostie was true of McCain. I would try to press what I associated them to be, but it felt like it was steering me toward a predetermined result. So I quit.
I’m dumb.
I think you’re making the same mistake I did at first. You don’t answer based on how you feel about a picture, you answer good or bad based on whether or not the picture is the person you’re supposed to be answering “good” to at the top of the page. If Obama is at the top of the page, then Obama is supposed to always be good, and everyone else always bad. Then the test records how many times you get that wrong and how long you hesitated before deciding. Answer as quick as you can, and don’t be afraid to be wrong.
Obama…Clinton.McCain.Huckabee…
I guess we can see who I’d vote for if the election was held today. This is pretty much how I feel. If Obama doesn’t get it, then I don’t have a preference, although I would have put Huckabee all the way down to the bottom on that scale.
If it were between Clinton and McCain, I’d be standing in the voting booth for a looooong time trying to figure out whose lever to pull.
