So who are your picks to take it down?
I’m going with Seed, Seidel or Hansen. Possibly Giang also.
Deeb has to be considered one of the favorites.
Good to see UK pros John Kabbaj and Tony G doing well, I’ll be rooting for them, but I agree that on those chip counts, Deeb looks the most dangerous. If he gets a run of cards he’ll be all but unstoppable.
Tony G is Australian, of Lithuanian origin.
And no one to be proud of.
He’s an entertainer, who understands marketing. That’s probably why he’s such a successful businessman.
Deeb is the short stack now.
Seed on the other hand is fourth in chips.
Random Huck Seed story… I wish I could remember the details better.
I was playing poker at Binion’s shortly after I moved to Vegas. A few of us had been playing a $3-6 NLHE cash game (weird stakes, I know) when two guys joined the table. After a while, I can’t remember exactly what I said but I made some sort of remark to one - maybe a smart ass comment about their play. His friend gives me the “you know who this is, right?” type attitude and then told me it was Huck Seed. I asked (towards Huck) “really?” and he told me to go look for myself if I wanted and pointed towards the Wall of Champions where there was a picture of every WSOP main event champion.
Thinking it was some guy who sort of looked like Huck who told random poker tables he was him, I sort of chuckled and said “Right… does that actually work on anyone? I guess you took a break from playing the $4000/8000 games at the Bellagio, right?” and he replied “$2000/4000 games, actually” and I just sort of blew it off and kept playing. About 10 minutes later he left.
So a few of the staff come over to the table after he’s gone and speculate about what he was doing there - and confirmed that it was indeed Huck Seed that I’d just scoffed at. Apparnently he was just killing a half hour by playing with us before the rest of his friends arrived to go up to the steak house.
So that’s my poker celebrity story - I’d made fun of and then scoffed at Huck Seed.
That’s cool! I <3 Huck Seed for reasons that I can’t completely comprehend. I just like his style, even though most of his current personality has been formed by years of drug use, if I’m not mistaken.
Anyways, his height didn’t tip you off that maybe he was legit? Isn’t he like literally six and a half feet tall?
I don’t think at the time I had anything but a vague recollection of what he looked like.
Well Deeb’s out.
Go Hansen, Seidel and Seed! W00t!
I’m here covering the events.
Go Erik Sagström!
Final Table:
Seat 1 - Ville Wahlbeck
Seat 2 - Erik Sagstrom
Seat 3 - Gus Hansen
Seat 4 - John Hanson
Seat 5 - Huck Seed
Seat 6 - Vitaly Lunkin
Seat 7 - David Bach
Seat 8 - Erik Seidel
Seat 9 - Chau Giang
Gus Hansen has practically no chips. Seidel is below the median and Huck Seed is the median player with 1,450,000
Okay, all the Dr Pepper I’ve had today has made me twitchy and anxious (just a day in my life) and I jumped the gun.
Gus Hansen was eliminated in ninth and giving us the official final table of:
Seat 1: Ville Wahlbeck
Seat 2: Erik Sagstrom
Seat 3: John Hanson
Seat 4: Huck Seed
Seat 5: Vitaly Lunkin
Seat 6: David Bach
Seat 7: Erik Seidel
Seat 8: Chau Giang
Seidel is the second shortstack and Seed is still in the middle.
And my Dr Pepper induced twitchiness, anxiety and impatience comes back to haunt me.
Here’s the final table with chip counts:
Seat 1 - Ville Wahlbeck - 645,000
Seat 2 - Erik Sagstrom - 3,675,000
Seat 3 - John Hanson - 1,700,000
Seat 4 - Huck Seed - 1,380,000
Seat 5 - Vitaly Lunkin - 2,490,000
Seat 6 - David Bach - 2,345,000
Seat 7 - Erik Seidel - 965,000
Seat 8 - Chau Giang - 1,075,000
I’m going with Lunkin. From what I’ve heard he’s been late to the national scene but has as much skills as anyone. Won the $1500 Hold 'Em last year and the $40,000 Hold 'Em this year and he looks to me like he’s not a one trick pony.
I just busted 18th in Event 52. That was a lot of fun.
Doh! I had a vague feeling I was wrong about this, but couldn’t be bothered to check. I think he plays more in the UK than most overseas players.
I didn’t say I was proud of him, I just like to see Brits winning! Of course, now I know he isn’t, I don’t care much one way or the other.
Nice work!
Gadarene: Just what in the hell is “triple chance” NLH?
EDIT: Congrats!
