[Discussion] World Series of Poker

And Schaffel goes out 8th as Buchman flops a 3rd K against Schaffel’s AA. Painful.

Where are you getting your updates? I can’t find anything useful.

You have to hit refresh to get updates. Every once in a while there’s a delay of 4 or 5 minutes, but then they catch up.

And the turn was the 4th King. Second time pocket kings faced pocket Aces in 67th deal.

Ivey still has not won a substantial pot, and hovering around the 10 million mark.
Buchman and Moon are the big stacks, double the size of any of the other players. Ivey is going to have do something within the next 2 hours. Maybe quicker.

This is where I am getting the updates too. They colored up the 5K chips about an hour ago and apparently Ivey had a 5K chip buried in one of his stacks that they missed.

Two of Joe Cada’s supporters got tossed out. Too rowdy.

Did you ever read The Old Man and the Sea? Right now Darvin Moon is the marlin, and all the sharks at the table are tearing him apart piece by piece.

Dinner break at the WSoP.

estimated Chip stacks:

Darvin Moon: 41,250,000
Phil Ivey: 14,900,000
Steve Begleiter: 38,100,000
Eric Buchman: 54,725,000
Joe Cada: 10,700,000
Antoine Saout: 28,725,000
Jeff Shulman: 7,175,000

Ivey has moved up to 5th, and is in much better position.

Antes and Blinds: 50k/250k/500k 1 orbit = 1,100,000 chips (7 hands)

My final table pick, Shulman, has done little today, losing 2/3 of his chips. He is doing his best to be the final table’s “Broomcorn’s Uncle” I am not sure if he has even seen a flop yet.

Nice! The CardPlayer updates blow chunks.

17 hours almost on the button. Three fourths of one day straight playing poker to get down to the final two. Anyone else besides me think that’s a bit insane?
Yes, when you’re playing in a cash game, some players will be at the table for longer than 24 hours stretches. But they can get up and leave anytime they want and instead choose to sit and play. Also, there’s usually not 8 million dollars on the line with every decision being made. What other sport requires this sort of unnecessary endurance contest? Even super marathons would have ended long before now.

Insane, but I kind of like it. I do wonder if the flattened payout structure slowed play down rather than speeding it up - rather than make people aggressive about moving up, and seems to have made all of them sit back even more.

The marlin turned out to be a shark too!

Yes, I went to bed about 1 am Central time and when I started to read the blog, I couldn’t beleive that they just finished. Cada and Moon in the finals. I have to think Cada is the favorite.

Same reaction here - I got back on this morning in the middle of the thread, and assumed that by the time I was done reading it would have long since been down to the final two. Instead it just finished out a little before I got to the page.

I agree, though it’s my guess that neither has much experience playing heads up. They both seem cautious…I suspect that when I get up for work Tuesday morning they’ll still be at it.

For those that missed the results:

9th - James Akenhead
8th - Kevin Schaffel
7th - Phil Ivey
6th - Steve Begleiter
5th - Jeff Shulman
4th - Eric Buchman
3rd - Antoine Saout
Cada ~ 135.950 Million Chips
Moon ~ 58.850Million Chips

Antes Blinds 150k-500k-1M

Interesting that Moon has almost the same amount of chips that he started with at the final table. Started with 58.930 Mil and now has 58.85 Mil

They have plenty time to play some poker. I think I read that the heads-up action had 67 hands last year.

Each level is 120 minutes and they started this level at 4:11 am local time, and I think they finished about 5:30 am this morning. Maybe 40 more minutes at the current level. Then it goes to 200k-600k-1.2M

276 hands in an estimated 14 hours of play. which comes up to ~3 minutes per hand, and at least 75% of the hands never got to the flop, let alone the turn or river.

REMINDER: Heads-up for the championship is tonight and will be starting very soon as both players according to Pokernews.com are already seated and getting their chips organized.

Also, is it at all possible to block that god forsaken Twitter feed on the right hand side of Pokernews?

EDIT: Need answer fast!

Are these feeds working tonight? Both the CardPlayer and the PokerNews feeds aren’t updating.

The Pokernews feeds are still updating for me. Please use your juju to destroy them.

WOW! Is Cada getting cold decked? Moon is just running him over.

Got the feed working obviously…

So much for Darvin’s little run there.

(Referring to Joe’s double-up of course)

And we have a winner!

Joe Cada is your new 20-something douchebag ME champion!
