This past Tuesday I had my right upper wisdom tooth removed. I know it is odd that I still had it at 60, but it had come in perfectly fine and was decay free until last year. The dentist said I should have it removed rather than filled, so I agreed. Wednesday and Thursday were ok, although I had quite a bit of swelling into my eye socket and up to the ear, but the pain wasn’t bad, so I soldiered through.
This morning (Friday), I attempted to get out of bed, passed out and hit the floor. When I tried to get up, I couldn’t get my balance. I wasn’t dizzy, just couldn’t stand.
Panicking (slightly), I called the doctor. When I told her I had experienced upper jaw dentail surgery several days ago and still had swelling, she told me the swelling had likely temporarily displaced the position of the crystals within my ear that control balance and would likely resolve itself in a few hours.
Thankfully, it did, but what a scare I had! Anyone else ever experience anything similar? Did it ever recur?
