Disingenuous argument and those who agree

One of the hardest things for me to learn is that people could disagree with me without being insincere. If we remove that assumption of folks being disingenuous, your complaint is something like this:

When I was younger, I encountered a number of people that seemed to believe and I’m pretty sure did believe that saying something contradictory to their opponent refuted that opponent’s argument. I satirized that POV here. It’s a midwit perspective, sad to say.

I speculate that as those sorts get older they learn… not to be so confrontational. But I doubt whether they improve their understanding of argument and rhetoric substantially.

I know that fucking tactic. You piss off someone even more because angrier people are more likely to make mistakes. And, no, you can’t say that they are also just angry, because they snark and mock and are generally calm.

You’re just saying that because you’re angry. Try to calm down.

See? Easy to do. I think adding a piece of false advice is a nice touch and adds realism.
