I have reason to have several email accounts. Sometimes I set up email accounts and then don’t submit the address to anyone, because I think better of signing up for something.
However, it seems that ANY email address I set up WILL get at least one, and usually several, spams from some company promoting the Disney Movie Club. Mind you, I might never use the frigging account, either to sign up for something or to send out email, but somehow this spam makes its way into my inbox.
IS the Disney company/corporation behind this spam? Who should I yell at or write angry letters to? And how the hell are they getting hold of my addresses, when I’m using a random string of digits?
I have never gotten such an email. If your email addresses are truly long and gibberish, you’ve got a really serious problem. It probably means the computer you are using has malware which is harvesting any email addresses it finds on the machine. The malware might in fact be something you downloaded and installed without realizing the consequences, as opposed to the more viral-type malware. Lots of toolbars and other addons try to look like proper software but do sneaky things. So many malware scanners won’t identify it since it’s sort of legit.
