Not a bad movie for younger people, I suppose, but something strange seems to have happened in the final scene. In the spirit of encouraging innovative “Dreamer” people, Dreamer Pins were given out to those who others thought deserving. Not a single white Anglo male receive a Dreamer Pin while every other race and both sexes were represented. Was this an oversight or a value statement?
Like the “stupid male” TV commercials, is the end of this otherwise engaging movie riding the wave of anti-white-guy -ism?
At the end of that movie they give pins to a handful of people*.
So a pin was given to a white woman, and to an asian man, say, and you’re mad that they didn’t represent both your gender and ethnicity in a single individual?
In that case, yeah it’s outrageous that they didn’t show someone of both my height and ethnicity. Damn SJWs!
This “finding things to be offended by” thing is fun
Well they show a handful getting pins, then there’s a shot of many of these chosen people in a field IIRC. I’d be willing to bet there are some white guys in that big shot.
The problem is what’s called a small sample. I count nineteen people that you can see being given those pins, and some of them you see nothing except their fingers. What proportion of the population of the world are white Anglo males? Would you really expect that many of them to get one of the pins? Also, note the scene just before that, where the young people are sent out to give pins to the “dreamer” people, it looks to me like many of them are white Anglo males:
I also forgot to mention: the two stars of the movie are a white male who received a pin as a kid, and a white woman who receives a pin. And they’re accompanied on their adventures by a robot that also happens to be caucasian. And attacked by other Caucasian robots.
And the antagonist is also a white male (and I guess we can infer he got a pin too? As a resident of tomorrowland?)
Nah, you’re right, it’s political correctness GONE MAD.
This is better suited to either Café Society or Great Debates. Since I’m not sure of the OP’s intent, I’m closing it. The OP may open a new thread in a more appropriate forum.
