Somethin’ bouncing around my head, considering the upcoming “Agents of SHIELD,” and the increasing interconnectedness of the Disney Empire…that is, what Disney villains would make good Marvel Universe villains, if they emigrated across canon?
Now, I’m giving priority to characters created by Disney’s studios proper, but really, anything currently owned by Disney is fair game. So Uncle Deadly and Darth Maul both technically qualify.
Fer starters…
•Shego. Delightfully snarky, clever, and frighteningly capable nemesis to Kim Possible. Also generates blazing plasma at will. Curiously, prefers to work as a henchman to other supervillains—but has proved to be capable of conquering the world by herself.
•Maximilian from 1979’s The Black Hole. Technically another “henchman,” but you can’t say he wasn’t the more frightening character, in-person. Also, I think he has one of the higher bosy counts as Disney villains go, at least onscreen. (The fellow from Mulan probably tops the list overall)
•Percival McLeach—aka “The evil poacher from The Rescuers Down Under.” Aka “played by George C. Scott, 'nuff said.” Kills and skins things, has a sweet ride.
•Darth Maul. Eh, probably too obvious, to be sure. But it was either him or IG88. Actually, now that I think about it, just make it IG88. No one’ll see it coming.
'All I can think about for the moment, but I’ll leave the rest up to y’all. Pixar baddies? Disney Channel TV show antagonists? Any salvageable villains from execrable direct-to-video movies?
Maleficient - I mean, she has the supervillain name, she can turn into a dragon, and she’s proven herself a natural leader of other Disney villains(c.f.* Kingdom Hearts*). Plus she’s getting her own movie.
Let’s not forget Jafar, he’d make a good foil for one of the MU’s mage-types.
David Xanatos. A charming, urbane, likable villain. He’s the trope namer for the Xanatos Gambit, which ought to play well with the tangled Marvel plotlines.
Gargoyles was such a great show (until the last season at least). I wouldn’t mind seeing someone resurrect that property as long as they could do it justice.
My thoughts exactly. Darth Maul was the least impressive villain in the history of film – no personality whatsoever. There’s a reason why the film he’s in is considered the worst in the Star Wars canon. Against any Marvel hero, he’d last less time them then the guy who went up against Indiana Jones with a sword.
I think Gaston would be a great crossover, simply because he’d think that he was really the hero.
I wouldn’t call Stitch a villain, nor would I like to see him working against the Marvel family. But it isn’t at all a stretch to think that Cobra Bubbles is perfectly familiar with SHIELD, or even worked for them, or is friends with Nick.
I’d have liked to see a crossover between Lilo and Stitch and one of the Marvel animated shows (they already had one with Kim Possible, I think). Couldn’t you just see Stitch stealing Cap’s mask and shield and doing an imitation of him in front of the other Avengers: “Blah blah blah blah FREEDOM!!! Blah blah blah blah JUSTICE!!!”
Then, as Tony briefs the rest of the gang on whatever it is that’s going on, in the background we see Steve chasing Stitch around trying to get the mask and shield back.
Sid, toy torturer turned garbage collector, from Toy Story. It’s only a matter of time until he meets up with Lots-O-Huggin Bear, and they start a brains and brawn team that will terrorize the world.
Their first plot will involve emasculating the superheroes by convincing them they are just children’s toys with delusions of grandeur, the way Woody did with Buzz.
