I really don’t think anything here right now other than exchanging insults with someone like you isn’t worth anyone’s time including mine.
Great sentence!
Thanks for turning me onto this Sears fellow though. I’m sure I won’t agree with a lot of what he says, but I feel like reading his book now.
AnaMen cites Sears as saying "At the end of (my) book, I encourage parents to vaccinate their children according to the CDC schedule if they feel confident in our nation’s vaccine system.
This is supposed to reinforce the idea that Sears encourages parents to follow the CDC schedule. Actually, it’s a good example of the “dog whistle” tactics that Sears is notorious for.
It’s similar to someone saying “If you feel confident that the government is truthful, you won’t give credence to the view that it deliberately blew up the World Trade Center in order to frame Islamic radicals.”
It should be obvious that Sears is loudly blowing his dog whistle to push the idea that our “vaccine system” is dangerous/unnecessary.
As to AnaMen’s complaint that all of the analyses of Sears’ “alternative” vaccine schedule that we have posted links to are unworthy of attention because they are not the original Offit paper or Sears book, and that he somehow can’t access the Offit paper despite the fact that it is linked to in mainstream media, that speaks to an unwillingness to consider good evidence in favor of dogged prejudice. Or animus against particular Dopers.
Or just plain trollery.
Yeah. I think that’s ultimately the right word here.
Or maybe there are more than two schools of thought on the matter and he is not firmly in either camp.
I read your links. So what? They are opinions and interpretations. Some may have merit, but I’d like to check against the primary sources.
Your Forbes link has a link to Offit’s paper behind a $12 pay wall.
I’d rather not go through the hassle of paying, thanks.
Disagreeing with you does not make me a troll.
I think accusing me of fellating Dr. Offit does, in fact make a you troll.
But hey you’re the enlightened thinker. Not like us brainless sheeple who clearly know nothing. Go line the pockets of Dr. Sears and buy his book.
It’s a Smallpox World, after all…
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
HAHAHAHA.
Ha.
ahem.
As you can see, there are enough people who are overt or covert vaccine denialist cult members, or who claim to be JAQing off, such as the one in this thread, that my and LavenderBlue’s work will never be done.
Which is why, after a certain amount of time and effort and education, we simply have to make a lack of vaccination not available as an option. That’s why I am firmly against any and all non-medical exemptions for vaccinations for children to attend any public or private schools.
There comes a point when public health is too important to wait for people to be convinced by science that they have no intention of accepting or attempting to understand.
And I and others also are advocating that liars like Sears and Jay Gordon be sanctioned by the AAP and/or the AMA, whichever is the appropriate body.
Because anything YOU don’t want to hear is trolling?
Got it.
Trolling is ignoring all evidence presented to you, JAQing off and making crude sexual remarks. Go buy Dr. Sear’s book and let us little sheeple know your words of wisdom about it, oh enlightened one. Because whether or not neo-natal tetanus exists is just an opinion as is whether or not the MMR is less riskier than an actual case of measles as is whether it makes sense to delay vaccines or give them on time.
Sure.
You’re really losing your grasp of English.
AnaMen, in case you are interested in an outsider’s view of your behavior in this thread*:
LavenderBlue is a passionate vaccine advocate. She is pissed at Dr. Sears actions and is pitting things he says in public. Things that we can read and evaluate for ourselves. You asked for more info, she provided it. Maybe you are unconvinced, which is fine.
However, you are pretending you don’t understand her points just to poke at her. My verdict: you are being an ass.
*I am fairly certain you couldn’t care less.
Does Dr. *William *Sears advocate the same vaccination schedule choice bullshit? I used one of his parent books with my first child and thought it was pretty decent. That book, 13 or so years ago, certainly didn’t advocate the lunacy of his son.
Seems like Bob Sears is just cashing in on Poppa Bear by being an attention whore. Wakefield part deux.
I went looking and his dad seems pretty sane on this issue.
So no, it doesn’t seem as if he’s into the bullshit.
Comments like this are going to earn you an honorable mention in this thread.
Is AnaMen related to adaher?
This is their website:
The family represents themselves as a team (of attention whores): Dr. Bill, Dr. Bob, Dr. Peter, etc.
Click ‘vaccines’ in the column on the left.
It goes straight to the Dr. Bob stuff. He is touted as their vaccine expert.
“Dr. Bill” thus does advocate this and appears to make no attempt to separate himself from his son’s opinions.
Here “Dr. Bill” flogs multi-level marketing scam/nutritional supplement Juice Plus:
You don’t sound like an objective observer. You are already predisposed towards one side of the issue and one participant.
Over and over, she has called me names and belittled me, simply because she did not like what I had to say. Now if you also didn’t like what I had to say, I see how that might look like good behavior to you, but that does not make it so.
I am not pretending anything. The Dr. Sears’ Facebook post that she initially was so enraged by didn’t seem to contain anything that would logically elicit that level of rage, so I figured there must be something else he had said or done to be viewed as such a villain. It turns out that he is Supervaccinator Dr. Offit’s evil nemesis, so must be hated by all who worship him. Since she started with the conclusion that he is hateful, rather than arriving at it based on evidence, she has not really managed to articulate why this is correct.
But she doesn’t really need to when the simplistic view “vaccines are 100% good and anyone who questions this is an enemy of the people” thinking has already taken hold.
