What is a good DivX player that’s relatively cheap ?
I’m not talking about a software player, but rather one you plug in your TV, I’ve seen them before, and would just like to know if any stand out. I’ve looked, and they seem to be somewhat of a rarity, and hard to find, at least, when I looked in the major stores, it wasn’t there. Or if they were, I wasn’t looking.
I live in the US btw.
Or, alternatively (and cheaper for me) what would be some good software to convert files from DivX to VCD format (Mpeg2 if I’m not mistaken) ?
I have a H&B DX-3110 which plays pretty much everything I’ve tried on it and bought it for ?150. It’s always good to find one that supports VCD/SVCD/Xvid and can be upgraded when better codecs come out.
Try www.bizrate.com and search for divx to give you an average price of a player.

is your best bet for finind software and tutorials for converting (all the software will be free)
as far as i know DivX players are pretty much obsolete - they are NOT players that can play Divx files, rather they are players made for one-time-viewing of DVDs at a reduced cost relative to regular DVDs. i think that idea basically did not fly too well.
I think what Willmore is looking for though is a DVD player that will also play files coded on a PC with the divx codec as opposed to the old Divx format which as you said is dead and buried.
I guess this 'cos he asked about DivX to VCD conversion which is what you have to do in order to view any divx-encoded files you have on a normal DVD player.
