Since when did troll spotting become a dead art?

Besides, I raised the question, and it was summarily proven to be wrong. Got my hand smacked for it, too, which was, IMHO, kind of heavy-handed of the mods. But, hey - we agreed to play by their rules. I didn’t like it and thought it was out of line, but I don’t hate anyone and ain’t raising a stink.

This is totally unnecessary. You know the rules and procedures of the board. You draw more notice to potential trolls (and give them the attention they crave) than anyone else on the board. The moderators have asked that no one take on the roll of “troll hunter” and you disrespected that request. So, Satan, you don’t like Tuba, I guess that means you don’t have to follow the proper channels to deal with possible trolls? Is THAT going to make this board work?

I think the moderators are doing a good enough job of controlling unruly posters - they don’t need a moderator wanna-be whining calling someone a troll everytime he doesn’t like someone.

By the way, that you don’t like Tuba is such NEWS to all of us. It’s not like you don’t go on tears about how much Tubadiva is keeping you down almost MONTHLY. Do you wonder why your girlfriend is the only one that ever backs you up?

And that’s why it was imperative that you mention this rule after the debacle with Esprix, so that something like that would hopefully not happen again. We can have assumptions all we want, but it’s up to you guys to determine whether or not we’re pulling them out of our asses.

Yeah, Satan WISHES he had that much public opinion sway on the board. :rolleyes: The point is that these assumptions are supposed to be THROUGH E-MAIL. I think a toddler would have more patience to actually get a reply before “saving” the board on a white horse in shining armor.

The moderators have done no such thing to me. I was asked nicely by Ed in private to not talk to or deal with Tuba. But she comes in here and does that to me. That is the only thing I was asked or told to do.

Use your head. Obviously, Ed forwarded the e-mail to her or she couldn’t have posted the above erroneous accusations now could she? And Ed e-mailed me back thanking me for bringing it to his attention.

Now, answer my questions that question the legitimacy of your own cile or shut the fuck up.

I’m closing this thread because it has degenerated into a pissing match. A few observations:

1. Please do not start threads accusing so-and-so of being a troll. This does nothing except encourage the troll (if in fact that’s what they are, which is no sure thing). Notify a mod or admin by e-mail.

2. While I don’t want to discourage anyone from sending me notes, I’m trying to stay out of day-to-day board administration. Except in emergencies I will merely forward complaints about trolls, etc., to an admin, usually TubaDiva. If you have a problem with a particular admin, send your complaints to a different one. We have three: TubaDiva, Lynn Bodoni, and CKDextHavn. Or try the moderator for the forum where the suspected troll is hanging out.

3. Various parties on the SDMB have, how shall we say, issues with various other parties. I do not want to get into a big discussion of who’s right and who’s wrong and I sure as hell don’t want to read about it on the board. All concerned are requested to refrain from any further postings along the lines of the above.
