Do all Sonics suck?

I live in NJ where there are no Sonics, but plenty of Sonic commercials on TV. My wife and I were in Pearland, Texas and decided to try the local Sonic. Awful! The burgers, fries, onion rings, jalapeno poppers and cheesecake bites all sucked. And the service was horrible as well. What a waste of $16. Did we happen to stumble upon a really bad Sonic, or is this par for the course?

No way. Here is St. Louis Sonic is great. Far better cheeseburgers than any other ‘fast food’ place, the breakfast stuff is all great, and the servers are always friendly. You just found a bad apple.

I love Sonic’s drinks and desserts, and their burgers are on the high end of fast food burgers. Also, it’s nice to have the option of tater tots or onion rings instead of fries.

I’m not crazy about their burgers but the drinks are good. And the few times I’ve had the breakfast sandwiches, I didn’t think they were too bad, but the coffee was. And the service is always good.

Stupid Sonic plays their stupid commercials in stupid Chicagoland and doesn’t have any stupid stores here. Stupidheads.

I miss those little minced apple pie-like wedges. Those were gooooood.

Franchised chain locations are always kind of individual things. They may aim for consistency in product and service, but it always comes down to the actual human beings running and staffing the place.

By the way, did anyone notice the two guys from the Sonic commercials in “Stranger Than Fiction”? It took me a while to place where I’d seen them before…

That’s good to know, because we get the commercials even though there are no Sonics here, and I had a little orgasm when I saw the cheesecake bites. My husband came out of the computer room to see what was wrong with me.

I’ll have to get my food porn elsewhere, I guess. Hey, is Paula Deen on now?

They make really nice malts.

Indeed my sis and I punched each other and mouthed “Sonic” when they appeared in “Stranger Than Fiction”.

And for the record I grew up in a tiny town where the ONLY fast food was Sonic…Now I live in a much bigger town with hundreds of fast food options and I often return to the good old drive inn.

I have never liked Sonic. No matter what I order from there, it tastes like a burp to me.

We often stop at Sonic for quick desserts - their shakes, malts and other drinks are pretty good and inexpensive. I don’t find their burgers anything special but I loooove the chili cheese dogs. And sometimes I just want tater tots or cheese sticks, which you can’t get at most fast food places.

It’s pretty good, especially their drinks (lemon slushies are the taste of summer!) but it’s all pretty greasy. I love a nice greasepit BLT from there with a lemon slushie on a hot summer day, though.

I keep asking them to but they keep threatening to call the cops.

I also grew up in a small town in MS where Sonic was the only fast food experience possible. It was a banner day when McDonalds came to town.

I have only been to Sonics in Salt Lake City and Ephata, PA (not really a representative sample) but both were good. Only complaint is that they must use gobs of mustard inside. Both times, I had to pry off pieces of the bun to avoid tasting that crap.

Their burgers aren’t anything to write home about. They’re not bad; they’re just not good either.

But I’ll be damned if they don’t have the best onion rings on the planet. And the cheery limeades kick ass as well.

Well, look at it this way. Sonic is the home of the Frito Burrito. For those keeping track at home, that’s a burrito, with Fritos on it.

Frito Burrito. Sonic has this. It exists, and is had, by Sonic. Let that sink in. I’ll give you a moment.

Now, pose the question in the OP once again, in light of this new information. Is the answer now self-evident?

If not, I fear I can aid you no further.

My parents (who still live in middle of nowhere) called me to happily announce the new fine dining establishment, that is McDonalds, upon it arriving in thier little town.

Taco Bell also has the Frito Burrito. It is an outstanding achievement. I prefer Doritos to Fritos, but Fritos are better in burritos. Hence, there is no Dorito Burrito. With burritos, the secret is having the appropriate amount of each ingredient in the correct location within the burrito. Taco Bell has proven that they can construct this masterpiece. My one experience with Sonic showed me that Sonic can’t even avoid frying their onion rings in the same oil as their cheesecake bites.

I have wonderd the same thing-here in Boston, we don’t have;
-Red Lobster (“Barf” Lobster)
-Papa Johns
-Long John SilversBut we get the commercials on local channels-OG knows why.
