Do animals bruise, well, mammals anyway?

These days prople are getting bored, and conversations come up with some odd questions. I just gave blood, and have some bruising at the needle site. I was showing it to my mom, a nurse, and I wondered the question in the title above.

Do animals bruise? Say, your cat or dog, or livestock. It might be hard to tell, with skin covered by hair.

Got answers?

Yes

Googling “dog bruise” brings up all sorts of sad pictures that answer the question. Yes they do.

Yes. I accidentally tripped over my Beagle Betsy and my foot whacked her good over her ribs. She’s a light colored dog and you could see the bruise under her fur.
I felt really bad (:()

Did you yell Heavens to Betsy afterwards?

I know you’re thankful she wasn’t more badly hurt.

Humans apparently aren’t consistent on it, I don’t bruise but I think I remember bruising when I was a kid.

Nice! (:))

Amphibians bruise too (or at lease one type seems to). My little African Dwarf Frog got lodged between the aquarium glass and a decoration while I was cleaning it one day. Poor little guy got smooshed pretty good. He lived, but the area where he got squeezed was red for like a week. The way he looked at me, those accusing little eyes… I fed him extra for a month cause I felt so bad.

The betta splashed me the following evening. I’m pretty sure he did it 'cause the froggy asked him to.

Thanks for all the responses.
