Do Armadillos Bark?

We’re trying to find out what noise an armadillo makes.

Does it bark?

I think most Texans would say that the sound an armadillo makes is “Crunch.”

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: To prove to the armadillo that it could be done!

I’ve never heard an armadillo make any noise at all except maybe some very low snuffling and grunting. They’re pretty quiet.

::Giggle, snort::

They grunt, and make “armadillo-ish sounds”, according to Armadillo Online. Also,

It’s kinda cute, actually.

Before anybody reading this thread gets any strange ideas, remember that many armadillos are carriers of leprosy.

Yes, so don’t eat them undercooked. :smiley:

(But seriously, according to the Zoologist whose page I linked too, that’s the only way you can get it from them.)

Screaming Hairy Armadillo is either a band name or the name of the protagonist of a rather strange series of children’s books. Sort of an anti-Arthur.

Or both.

Is it true that an armadillo’s grunt will not echo?
