Do Aussie (and others) Refer To Young Cow Meat As Calf?

I was watching the best soap opera in the world the Australian show Prisoner (Prisoner: Cell Block H) and Lizzie the oldest imate in Wentworth, the funnest prison in the world recites the following limerick

There once was a man from Sydney
Who loved his steak and kidney
But his wife served him calf
So he cut her in half
Well he had to do something, didn’t he?

Now I was just wondering if there is a meat that Aussies refer to as “calf” or was that just used for the sake of the rhyme?
