In your experience do auctions for homes or cars offer better deals than you’d get with a more planned out purchase, or are they the same price but without the ability to do research ahead of time?
I bought my house at auction. And yes, I knew going into I’d have to put a lot of money into my 150-year old farm house. But I got a 2300 sq ft farmhouse with 14 acres. The house has 10’ and 12’ ceilings and 4 fireplaces. It has white oak plank floors and beadboard ceilings and a 6’ X 25’ covered front porch with porch swing. The same family lived there the whole 156 until I bought it. And yes, it also has no central heat and air, no insulation, tin roof (which is sound) and a well. I got it for $60K. Land alone in my county usually goes for somewhere around $8-10K an acre. Here’s my house.
