Do cops get rewarded??

They finally caught** ERIC ROBERT RUDOLPH** (The Olympic Bomber) after more than five years on the run. He was on “The FBI’s 10 Most Wanted” list and had a 1,000,000 reward on his head.

Does the cop who recognized and ultimately arrested him get the reward money?

Sorry!!

Was the cop on duty at the time? IIRC, capturing someone while performing the duties of your job makes you ineligable for a reward. This was the consensus when a similar question was asked about whether soldiers who captured Osama Bin Laden would get the reward, and I don’t know why it would be different for civillian police officers.
