Do flies deficate when they die?

That’s the question folks.

Well, if ‘fication’ is a suffix meaning ‘to make or create’, as in glorification, and ‘de’ a prefix meaning to reverse or undo, like decode, or decay, then are flies unmade when they die?

Yes, I suppose they are.
What?

Do flies defecate when they die?

That’s the question folks.

When I googled for this before snarking up the thread, I found a couple of sites that claimed flies defecate every 4-5 minutes, but nothing about defecation upon death.

I’ve seen many a dead fly, but don’t recall a suspicious spot of fly speck under each one, so I don’t think so, no.

And just how did anyone ascertain this? Put 'em in a room that’s so quiet you can hear a fly shit?
