From the above link (I’m pretty sure it’s fake, but The Mirror (UK) is also carrying the story, although that’s hardly an endorsement for a story).
Would a population of humans who lived out “in the wild” so to speak naturally know how to procreate, or would the population need to be taught by older generations?
Actually, people DID live in the wild for a lot longer than they didn’t, and they managed to figure out the logistics. I agree with Devilsknew…sexual urges can be programmed out of a person’s make-up.
But wait…it depends on what you mean by “know how to procreate”. I would think your adverage hetrosexual couple “in the wild” would figure out reproductive sex…the whole point is it’s about instinct, right ?
But whether they’d figure out the link is not so certain. it’s not that obvious, after all. For one thing, for humans, even most of our potentially reproductive sex is not going to be reproductive. People have speculated that early socities didn’t get the connection…and when they did it was a major shift in human society. Of course, people speculate all kinds of things :D.
That said, I doubt the article for the opposite reason. I think if you’re taught to be supisious of pleasure and you’re own body, you might not figure out intercourse. But even the most anti-sex comunity is usually pro-baby. So I’d think somebody would have explained it to them in the eight years.
