I’m in Chicago, going to Florida. I’d like to use the Garmin, 200 series, while I’m down there, setting the place we’re staying as “Home.” Do I need to reset the device to do that? Or is it just easier to turn it on and assign where we are as a destination?
I don’t have the exact same model as you, but a similar one. When I’m traveling, I don’t change the Home setting. Rather, I go through a couple of other menus to see a list of common/recent addresses, which I can count on to have things like hotels that I’ll be back and forth to frequently. Then I just have to tap on the destination I want. It’s a couple of extra clicks compared to setting Home as a destination, but not too bad.
Home can be changed as often as you like but I would just add a favorite. Oh, the 200? Nevermind I don’t really know.
Sure, you can reset the “Home” location. Of course, you’d need to reset it again after you return. Alternatively, once you’ve entered your vacation address, just go to “Recently Found” to get it again.
So, the choice is reset “Home” twice, but get your vacation address with one click while you’re there, or leave “Home” as is and get your vacation address with two clicks while you’re there. Which strikes you as easier?
ETA: As Lanzy mentioned, you could also add the vacation address to the “Favorites” list and access it from there, again with two clicks.
