Do lefties hang...to the right?

Well?

Well, neither actually. I’m one of them grow-ers, so it’s just kinda there.

I was a right-hander who hung to the left, but since a recent operation, I find I now hang to the right.

I’m still right-handed.

I am a militant leftie and I hang to the left.

I posted a similar thread to this one a while back , as I’d heard it said that right-handers’ left testicle hangs lower and vice versa, but I didn’t get much response.

Righthander who hangs to the right.

My WAG is that while handedness may be a factor in hanging direction, it’s not a predictor.

Leftie who hangs to the left. But then, my dog also slinks towards the hand that pets him the most too.

      • Guys normally hang to the left, no matter which-handed they are. Unless they are not normal, and a few aren’t: there is a medical condition the name I can’t recall right off, by which the left-right orientation of the internal organs is switched, and cases of such men they do hang to the right. - MC

Another right-handed right-hanger checking in. (Although I did have surgery at age 11. Didn’t really notice handing direction at that age). My 19 month old son aims the fire hose to his right during diaper changes, and seems to favor his right hand, but he’s still too young for his handedness to be clearly identified.

Some of us lefties don’t have to worry about hanging in either direction. Which is good, since I’m willing to bet that “zipper trama” happens more(percentage-wise)often to male lefties than righties, considering how zippers are made…

Left…no, right…err, ok Ambedextrious here really, but I would say I hang over the right. (shoulder that is)

Ok, how many of us checked just for this thread

Right hander who hangs to the left

Jeeves

Hold on a moment, here… Everyone immediately realizes that this thread is referring to the male dangly bits, but which bits, specifically? To put it bluntly, are we referring to testicles or the penis?

Well, I was refering to the penis, but hey, lets talk about the testes as well.

Do both hang parallel, or are they oblique?

You refer to “situs inversus,” a condition in which the heart is located on the right side rather than the left. In most human males the left spermatic cord is longer than the right for unclear reasons, probably due to hemodynamic and developmental asymmetries. Most patients with situs inversus have the right testicle lower. There is an urban legend about a doctor who asked recruits to stand naked in front of him, and he allegedly could pick out the ones with situd inversus by visual inspection.

      • So, is it just the heart reversed, or all the organs in the abdomen and chest? I read that it was all of them. I cannot remember where I saw this, though it may have been Gray’s Anatomy. - MC

Well, things are packed pretty tightly in there, so I imagine that if the heart switches sides, everything else would have to, too, to make room. Neurodoc was probably just using the heart as an example. I think. Now watch him come back and correct me.

Chronos is correct. In complete situs inversus there is dextrocardia and reversal of the position of the gastrointestinal organs.
