Do mosquitoes like your cell phone?

I like to sit outside in my yard and read on my phone. Since there is a pond a few hundred feet away, that means lots of misquitoes in favorable weather. But it seems that more often than not, they are more interested in my phone than me–they will land on the screen or top bezel, stabbing around mindlessly until I manage to squish them.

Anyone else notice this? Any ideas why they think plastic and glass might contain an appetizing meal?

It might be how warm the phone gets.

Yup, possibly. I know my phone can get to be 102° or hotter. That’s about 5° higher than normal body temperature.

Should I plug in my heating pad when I go out on the deck tomorrow for my morning coffee?
