Just got a call. “Hello, this is Leonard with Colony Mortgate in Glendale. I’m calling about the contact you had with our representative some time ago when you indicated interest in re-financing…”
“I am on the Federal Do-Not-Call List”
“Oh really, my goodness!” conversation including “Why” Answer: Well, are you sure that’s enforced" (!) “that’s not enforced compared to other (private?) DNC lists”.
Offers to take my name off their do-call list.
I ask for supervisor, get Glen (Sabian?), more offers to take my name out of their records, but no resolution to the scoff-law issue where they show every indication of continuing to call others, one assumes in hopes of finding confused elderly home-owners to rook.
I have received such calls before, and the one time I documented one and sent it to the Federal DNC site complaint address, all that was visible was a form letter returned a couple of weeks afterwards.
Does anyone know of an effective way to get these scofflaws into conformity with the law?
Does anyone know if there is a Colony Mortgage in Glendale? and anything about it?
Outside of registering a complaint at the Do Not Call list website (National Do Not Call Registry), I don’t know of any other way to keep them from bothering you.
A Google search turned up this link. They appear to be based in Glendale.
If, indeed, you did talk with one of their representatives then all bets are off as far as the DNC list, since this constitutes a “prior business relationship.” However, I wouldn’t put it past some firms to include this line in their cold-calling script to get around the law.
FWIW, since the DNC list went into effect, my telemarketing calls have decreased by about 99%.
Are surveys and opinion polls exempt? I’ve been getting these kind of calls lately, most of which are clearly marketing surveys (e.g., from a local radio station), so they are clearly not allowed by virtue of an exemption for political activity.
