"Do not heat rice cakes in toaster or microwave" - why not?

I heat up dinner plates by a one minute zap.

I remember a thread here, I think, on what’s going on with that. Do the plates count as nothing? /not sarcasm

Every 10 th time or so I throw in a few drops of water to give the microwaves something to suck on. I don’t do it every time because in a whirl of plating I don’t feel like pausing to dry off the top plate from the microwave.

Presumably if the plates are heating up then they are absorbing the microwaves and so aren’t nothing (so to speak).

I have some plates which seem unaffected by microwaves and one set in particular which heat up dangerously. I ended up with a blister when I discovered that for the first time.
