My wife asked me this question last night and I could not come up with any answer. My daughter told her that she should close the toilet bowl lid prior to flushing because a lot of ‘germs’ go up in the air and spray/spread throughout the bathroom and onto skin. It sounds reasonable enough but I realized that I never put the lid down when flushing.
Anyone?
Still new, still learning! I should have searched. Thanks a lot!
Everything spreads germs. Germs are a part of life. In fact in some places they are only life around, such as in the intestines. (That might not be entirely true, but what the hell.)
Get used to it. Don’t baby your immune sytem. Make it fight battles every hour of every day. Then it will be in tip-top, fighting shape when it’s really needed.
If we spent less time worrying about germs and more time worrying about the traffic problem we’d be better off.
With all deference to Professor Gerba, I think he should take up another aspect of the environment.
Amen, brotha! My boss and I had a very interesting (?) conversation a couple of weeks ago about the immune system benefits of eating boogers.
Flushing is NOT the real problem.
Recently TV ads for a product to remove pet urine stains from carpets was advertised at the usual high tv prices so I ordered from a an online pet supply, got two spray bottles of the product and a battery powered black light to pin point the stain and confirm the neutralization of it.
A survey of a number of toilets both public and private confirment that urine spots are prelavent around all toilets!
The Sweedish or Norwegian school teacher was right. The boys should sit down to p.
The flush plume is minimized by the new style combination flush valve and overflow tower furnished with the newer commodes. Unfortunately it is not readily adaptable to older one piece toilets. It works in the older two piece units.
