Do people actually break into cars specifically to steal baseball hats?

A few months ago a cousin posted on FB that someone broke the back window of his car to steal a Seattle Mariners hat. He had the window replaced and bought a new hat. 2 weeks later it happened again. I hope he learned his lesson.

I have 2 hats in my truck but I don’t think anyone would steal them. I have a ball cap from Toozigoot National Monument in Arizona with a roadrunner on it and a poopie hat.

Hell, I thought the same when I put in my POS Radio Shack tape deck (“Not even an idiot would steal this!”) Yet they stuck around long enough after seeing what they were stealing to sloppily finish the job. shrug.

But, no, I don’t know the baseball hat to be a thing.
