Do plasma screens make for good computer screens?

I have recently come into a large ammount of money and while upgrading my computer I was looking into monitors and thought to my self “Waitaminute… why get a 21 in square model, when I can get a 42+ inch HDTV model!”. So is it a good idea to use an HDTV screen as my primary monitor? Will I regret it? Will it have a crappy refresh time making FPS hard to play?

The problem with a 42 inch HD monitor is that large screens are meant to be viewed at a distance (1.5 times the height or something like that.) Unless you are visually impaired or plan on sitting 3-4 feet away, the monitor will be too big for the distance and you will not get the best view.

I wonder how good a projector would be for playing games. Why get a puny 42" screen if you could play that FPS on an entire wall?

I once saw a PC Gaming article about using a projector. If I remember right their review is best summed up as “awesome”.

If you wanna blow some serious money, this badboy will help you towards that end-- PREMIERPRO™ Series 24

I can only imagine how RTCW would play on that sucker.

Nice projector you mentioned there Jeff. At $1700 reasonable priced.

Here are the ports on it:
1-VGA 15-pin port; 1-PS/2 port; 1-USB port; 1-Audio In port; 1-Audio Out port; 1-S/Video port; 1-RCA Audio Left port; 1-RCA Audio Right port; 1-RCA Video port

I wonder what a PS2 port is, as the ps2 uses a/v or s-video

That might refer to a mouse port although I have no idea what it would be doing there.

Oh, right. Maybe its for pointing with a mouse like a laser pointer sort of thing as some of them come with a laser pointer.

We use a vga projector at the Monterey Bay Aquarium for lectures & it gives a very nice 20’ display.
