Okay, I looked for an answer to my question and found this thread, in which Chronos said that post counts let people know how much slack to give posters based on their relative degree of “newbieness.” (I would use a direct quote, but it took me ten minutes just to get the link to work right. Figuring out how to do a cross-thread quote would probably be enough to put me over the edge.) Fair enough, I guess. I certainly need some slack! But does keeping track of post counts slow the board down? If so, I might be willing to forego post counts and take the chance of people thinking I’m just a total idiot, rather than merely inexperienced. (Not that those are mutually exclusive possibilities, of course.)

You can put the “quote” bars around any text by copying it and pasting it into your “Reply to Topic” box and putting {quote} and {/quote} around the text:
{quote}The quick red fox jumped over the lazy brown dog.{/quote}
Only substitute straight brackets ( ) for curly brackets ( { } ), to get
