I know a Baptist Church here who actually drives elderly to Dialysis centers. They provide vouchers for the cheap insulin at the pharmacies.
They hand out needles without asking questions.
They also provide things new mothers can’t afford. Clothes and diapers. They take donations of cribs and other baby needs. They quit taking carseats outta of fear they were not still safe. DiL took a bunch of stuff to them after the twins were passed needing them. (She has a garage full of outgrown carseats now.)
They have a free daycare for short term needs. Like job hunting.
So they’re not all bad.
Any group can do good. Church, Temple whichever.
It’s good optics for your group. And it’s branding.
(ETA: I’m ok. I have great private insurance and can afford what I need. I just worry about others. People on fixed incomes, medicaide or without any insurance)
I love that TST is fighting back against these attempts to force religion into schools. Things like this and their abortion rights advocacy make me proud to be a member.
There’s a pretty long history of conservative Protestants considering Catholicism to be evil. It seemed to have died down for a while, but I doubt it ever went away.

He knew that to get people to listen to you, you first have to get them to look in your general direction-thus, the name. I suspect the same reasoning is behind the name of the Church of Satan.
