Do snakes get inside Florida houses?

I was bitten by a zombie in Ft Lauderdale.

Zombies go to Spring Break?

They’re not savages.

Now don’t exaggerate, some snakes have taken to eating the gators.
The everglades pythons are getting to a pretty decent size now.

Seriously,
If the OP is that concerned about snakes, Florida or anywhere in the deep south probably isn’t for her (I assume). While snakes and reptiles in general do cover almost all of the US and can get into houses anywhere, the chances are higher down here. And it isn’t just because of the temperature. High water is more common here and because of that wild animals tend to move to where it is dry.

darn zombies!
I really need to get in the habit of reading the post dates.

It’s been ten years so they’ve probably already been killed by snakes by now.

…And turned into zombies.

Lotta old names in this thread. What the heck; I’ll inject some life into the mostly dead.

I lived for a decade or so in the southwest, where scorpions were a real issue. We didn’t see many, but we took precautions every day; shaking out shoes, etc.

So now I move to FL. Where our area is lousy with these cute little lizards: Curlytail Lizard - Florida eco travel guide. They’re utterly harmless. The juveniles are an inch long and the big ones are about 8" long. And they’re everywhere; dozens live in our building’s landscaping.

And out of the corner of your eye they look exactly like scorpions when they move. Legs sticking out of the side of the body, big tail “stinger” raised high, a jerky zoom and freeze, zoom and freeze motion.

A couple years later I’ve finally gotten over turning to face the danger every time I see one of these things in my peripheral vision.

We live on the waterway across from a nature preserve. 5 foot iguanas Iguana - Florida eco travel guide are common on our dock. Ref the dear departed OP, I’ve seen a couple snakes, but none in the house. Yet. We find dessicated baby lizards indoors fairly often though.

Do they have paragraphs in Florida?
mmm

They’re only available imported.

Folks who’ve graduated from the local schools laboring under starvation budgets for the last 20 years don’t know about them or use them. Too rich for their blood.

How did ol’ Florida Gurl even find this thread?

Was she thinking “You know, I saw a snake in my Florida home and think there are people in the world who want to know if snakes get into Florida homes…They need my expertise!”

So she Googled it and found the thread and felt the need to answer? Strange…
