Do they make a device to keep your shirt collar upright?

Hello Everyone,
I wear a uniform everyday that has insignia pinned to both collars. It really annoys me that throughout the day I’ll find my collar laying flat against the shirt instead of upright.

I’ve tried heavy starch and that didn’t help. Anytime know if there is a device made to keep collars upright? I tried Amazon, but couldn’t think of a good search term.

Thanks!

Collar stays? Some shirts have pockets on the underside for the stays.

Negative. Our uniforms have sewn in collar stays. As far as I can tell, their purpose is to keep the collar point from curling.

Well, when button down dress shirts are sold in cellophane, there is a cardboard sleeve inserted to keep the collar upright. So maybe replicate that, though perhaps not in cardboard?

Here’s a collar for your collar.

Here’s another type

This guy with a YouTube channel about men’s fashion wants you to use magnetic collar stays and something called a Million Dollar Collar to help you stay crisp. But you have to have the MDC installed in your uniform shirts.

You need a 1920s-style collar.

I went to college in Troy, New York and the city is known as the Collar City. Supposedly a nineteenth century housewife was tired of laundering her husband’s shirts so she developed detachable shirt collars and a whole industry developed around the idea. Many were made of celluloid.

A problem with stiff detachable collars was that they predisposed to asphyxia, supposedly fatal in some cases.

The celluloid type was highly flammable, which posed a risk to smokers.

I hate to mention the obvious, but have you measured your neck against the collar to make sure you have a good fit?

We were measured for our uniforms when issued and then we were required to go to a tailor and have them fitted.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I’ve ordered a collar device from Amazon.
