First take 1000, then add 40 and then add 1000. Now add 30. Next add 1000 and then add 20. Then add 1000 and finally, add 10.

Some people seem to equate 4090 with 4990 in their heads. Like I said a few times, it works much better if said aloud. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever found a person who hasn’t said “5000” in real life when I’ve said this to them (although that number in itself is only about 10 people).
