Would a higher number be a Good thing or a Bad thing? And how about Zero?
Ok, now my palms are sweating and heart rate is going up.
Oh, you’re gonna be in trouble with Officer Short Shrift! Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!
I tried to be an FBI agent, excuse me, special agent. I never even got to the lie detector part. To this day, I have no idea what it was they didn’t like. Considering the year, it could have been I wasn’t LDS enough. Or CPA enough.
And yes, I am still bitter. 11 page application, with detailed history and references, four letters of recommendation (you know how hard that is to get that at 22?)! And…“no”.
I had a… um, let’s say “friend” that applied for either the CIA or FBI, I can’t recall which. He was turned down because while living in Japan he had liaisons with a sex worker who was involved with the Japanese mafia. Coming from anyone else, I wouldn’t believe that story, but he’s just that fucking weird.
I recently ran into a video on YouTube that is about debunking YouTube “body language experts.” I haven’t haven’t watched the whole thing, but a huge part of it is that they often already know if they are guilty, and then find clues that match up. So it’s a lot of confirmation bias and cherry picking.
If you want more stuff to read, just type body language experts debunked
into Google. I saw a bunch of articles when I went back to find the video above.
Lordy, I’m glad I’m not criminally motivated or applying for spy jobs.
I’d pee my pants at the first extra question from the polygraph expert.
Big ol’Guilty. Off to stir for me.
Which begs the question. Why would the Anthony’s (aside from the big$$) submit to this silliness?
Doesn’t appear they are exactly poor.
BTW, the show is on tonight.
And the really strange thing is that I had, while in the military, help a high level security clearance.
I recall the Anthony’s lost their house a few years ago. George had a serious car accident. They must have a lot of bills.
A&E’s lie detector show probably paid well.
I don’t plan to watch. Anything interesting will be in the news tomorrow.
Well, I’m watching.
It’s being manipulated. They can’t just show the questions & answers and then discuss the results with the examiner.
It’s reality tv at its worst. Randomly cutting in inflammatory clips and allegations. Then show one question from the test.
It’s 1 hour 10 minutes into the show and I think they’ve shown George answer a handful of questions. I hope the examiner finally gets to fully discuss the results before this ends.
George and Cindy should get paid well for getting used this way. They’ll face a lot of negative public reactions and texts afterwards.
No spoilers. (I’m recording it)
Should have tried the Treasury. IRS Special Agent is still a good job.
I just watched tbis. I think I might be in love. She brings in both Goatse and Bukkake into a mostly serious but humerous diatribe about bullshit artists in the “lie detection” industry.
I dont get this. Why would being Mormon or an accountant be especially attractive to the FBI? Why would the year make that especially so? What year?
We can’t stop them from shooting innocent people, you think you can stop them from lying?
I doubt the recent show changed any minds. The reality show format spends the majority of its time repeating the most horrible accusations.
I’m not offering details or spoilers. It shouldn’t be surprising the aim of this special is intended for ratings and entertaining an audience. It’s not an attempt to resolve a unsolved case.
The FBI had a known bias in the 80s where LDS got preference. It was like a secret cabal. If you weren’t LDS you got discriminated against. There was a lawsuit filed in 1987, and I think won, by an LA agent. (Since all the articles are paywalled, I don’t know the details.)
I’ll admit I don’t know how extensive it was, or how long it lasted, but it existed. I applied in 1985.
Oh, and traditionally, going back to the beginning of the FBI, most if not all agents were accountants. I don’t get it, but that was the rule. White shirted black tied CPAs. I bet they were really good at infiltrating the Klan.
Wow. That was oddly specific as far as bias’ go.
But what do I know?
Ok. I watched the show.
Jeebus, what a painful load of crap. It hurt my soul to see it.
They need to just stop and let that baby rest in peace.
Nobody should profit from the death of that poor little kid.
Sigh.
