I forgot to say in my earlier post that I have had a concealed carry permit for many years but almost never bother actually lugging one around. It’s a PITA.
The last time I carried, for a week or so, on and off, was because I got a new handgun and holster and wanted to break the holster in (like breaking in a new pair of shoes) and to get a feel for the rig as a whole. Once that was accomplished it went back in the safe except for the occasional shooting session.
I was shooting at paper targets - this was on qual days. Here’s a picture showing the three targets used for USMC rifle qualification. At 500 yards, that target (on the far right) can be completely hidden behind the front sight post of the M-16.
