Do you also tend to walk into things after a fraught interaction?

Something that I noticed almost all my life: I become temporarily dyspraxic after a talk where I was very self-conscious or afraid.

For example,

  • the other day I talked to a colleague about something he might have resented. Kept it civil and low-key. Walked into the doorjamb on my way out.
  • on the street some time, declined an invitation to a fight from an aggressive teenager. Walked into a lamppost.
  • when I was a teenager myself, nerved byself to say hi to a girl, walked on, tripped over my own feet.

Is that just me or is it common?

well there’s at least two of us

In Brain Gym and similar schools of kinesiology, they describe a person as homolateral when they are stressed or in a fight/flight response. Symptoms can be dyspraxia, general unbalancedness, verbal diarrhea, etc.

Treatment is to do anything that involves both brain and body hemispheres, like cross crawling, juggling, etc.
