Thank you for posting, Shodan. I saw that and meant to come back to this thread.
Adnan’s lawyer seems to believe there are a small number of legal options remaining; I’m interested to see what they are, but I have to believe the most likely avenues for a new trial have been exhausted at this point.
I honestly did not think there would ever be an update to this thread after the last, but here we are. Baltimore prosecutors are asking for Adnan’s conviction to be thrown out while they determine if they wish to retry him.
Wow. Can’t believe it’s been 8 years. Like many others, I avidly listened to Serial’s first season but I can’t remember what I thought of the case, probably was just unsure. I hope Koenig revisits the case. There is so much to talk about just in terms of the judicial process and also the reaction of everyone involved.
OK I just checked Serial’s twitter page and there will be an episode tomorrow. Can’t wait.
“a detective named Bill Ritz — who repeatedly interviewed Jay Wilds — was later accused in a separate case of manipulating and fabricating evidence and not disclosing exculpatory evidence.”
It’s highly likely that he is guilty, just statistically, being an ex-boyfriend. However, he didn’t have effective counsel, the cops’ investigation was corrupt, the cell phone tower evidence is unreliable, and Jay’s testimony is questionable, so I believe overturning his conviction was the right call. I’m a Dem.
I’m very SURPRISED that it was the prosecution that requested this!
I’ll be very interested to find out, if we ever do, who/what these two other threats to Hae’s life were about. Are they credible? More likely than the ex-boyfriend to have been the killer?
Well, not just boyfriends. A person is more likely to be murdered by someone they know, usually a friend or family member, as opposed to a stranger. But no, not more likely than any other boyfriends or ex-boyfriends. I forgot the name of the guy who was supposedly her current boyfriend. Dennis or something like that?
