Do you buy/enjoy store brand soda?

Jones freaking soda, baby.

I’ll buy the store brands more often than not, but the colas vary so much in flavor that I’d rather spend extra for pepsi, rather than purchasing some swill that will have to be poured down the drain. All the other flavors I drink seem to be okay.

HEB house brand Hill Country Fare (or Fair?) is OK, but not the cola! Coca-cola rules. I will drink generic grape, orange, root beer, and ginger ale. For a dollar a sixpack, as compared to 3 to 4 dollars for a 12-pack of Coke.

When I first moved to NC, I did not havge a lot of money. To save a little at the grocery store, I purchased a 12-pack of the stores in-house brand cola instead of Coke or Pepsi. It was a horrible, unreal concoction which looked like used motor oil and tasted like malted battery acid. I drank 2 1/2 of them (2 1/4 of my drinking was out of desperation) and tossed the rest.

I go into work the next weekend and mention casually to my new boss that I got a hold of some bad coke that weekend. His interest perked up considerably, and he told me that he was the guy to go to for good coke.

Guess what he did on the side… It was a funny way to find out, that’s for sure.

mr pibb and faygo IS available here, northern indiana (only a few places carry faygo), but i have not tried it yet.

the store brand soda i get and enjoy is wildwood, for the red soda, cream soda and ginger ale .

it is probably 25 cents a can, and when on sale can be as low as a dime for a can, i prefer not to get the cola, but for the price it is good.

I will only buy the store brand if we are going somewhere like the park, beach, or other big gathering. The kids like them and they are cheap. I usually only drink the creme soda of the store brands because I do not think the other flavors taste that good.

The furthest south I have been able to reliably find Faygo has been Louisville, Ky. Rock&Rye jams! There is also a Detroit area favorite of mine - Vernor’s Root Beer. Mmmmmmm.
